Editorial standards
Pluginless is an independent editorial project covering Jira alternatives for engineering, cross-functional, and lightweight teams. We are not affiliated with Atlassian or any vendor on our shortlist. Trademarks belong to their owners.
How we evaluate tools
Every shortlist on this site comes from a six-criterion rubric — boards and backlogs, automation and dashboards, integrations and docs and mobile apps, pricing and free-plan posture, migration considerations, and a buyer-archetype verdict. Each criterion is weighted by how often the user encounters it in daily work, then scored on a 1–3 scale across the candidate tools. The verdict is the highest weighted total against the team archetype the page covers.
We do not claim to have run multi-week production pilots on every tool in 2026. Our reviews are evaluation frameworks and procurement checklists — opinionated, but based on vendor documentation, public reviews, and editorial reading rather than independent benchmarks. Pricing, free-tier caps, and feature availability are verified against vendor pages and dated on the article.
How we source facts
- Pricing and free-tier caps come from the vendor pricing page on the verification date.
- Feature availability comes from official vendor documentation and changelogs.
- Where a number cannot be verified, we write a range or omit the number entirely.
- Competitor blogs and resellers are not a source of truth for pricing or features.
The facts file behind this site is dated and gets re-checked before any procurement guidance ships. SaaS pricing moves quickly — always verify on the vendor page before a buying decision.
Conflicts of interest
Some links on this site route through affiliate paths when a vendor activates a partnership. Those links are explicit, redirect through /go/<key>, and never override the editorial conclusion. We do not change a verdict based on a vendor relationship; readers are best served by honest editorial, not optimised commission.
See our partner disclosure for the affiliate program list and our compensation structure when partnerships are active.
